i have been struggling to actually draw anything for ages, never happy with anything. i'm still in that pit, but for now i thought i might as well show some stuff i've been doing. much of it isn't finished and they're mostly just first drafts. i'd also like to rant about them for a bit, if you don't mind.
here we have what i named 'Scuttercutter', they're both the same species, the male and female just look a bit different. this is roughly what i want them to look like, but i'm not sure what to do with the female's tail :/ Scuttercutter is based on trilobite beetles which have massive gender differences and a lovely black/orange colour to them.
these two are redesigns of two other critter designs i wasn't happy with. 'Terrahollow' on the top and what was previously known as 'Gastromorph' on the bottom, but i'm gonna have to think of another name for them. i made Terrahollow look more like pottery and less like animal crossing's 'Coco', which inspired the design, but it was a bit too similar to for no good reason. i changed Gastromorph more dramatically because i felt like it was too humanoid for what i plan it to metamorphose into, and a naga body type would be more unique. also giving it shapeshifting powers was just unnecessary, so i took those away.
i've been trying to redesign my persona too, but i just can't get anything to work. i've tried drawing them more humanoid (taller, more anatomical legs, ect) but i'm really bad at drawing anything remotely human, i particularly struggle with hips and legs, but i can't focus long enough to practice, i end up getting frustrated that i can't do it perfectly the first time, which is dumb but i can't really help that.
so that's where i've been at the past few months. finding it real hard and frustrating to draw, but if i quit now then i've wasted so much time, and it's quite literally my only hobby, so i'd rather not lose that.
